Migrating my data #backup plan away from Google and Onedrive in favor of my own drives at home, synced across devices with Syncthing, including a cloud backup on Backblaze. It's a bit of work to set up, but feels good to have it under my own control.
The steps described by Christian Bundy help me restore the corrupted stream data in my Scuttlebutt "server" data today.
Are you able to use any version of ssb-server or Patchwork? This looks to me like your flumedb views are corrupted (see flumedb/flumedb#32), but I've only ever personally seen this when running my flumedb deletion scripts. You can regenerate all of your views by deleting everything in ~/.ssb/flume/ except for log.offset, but I might make a backup so that we can try to debug them. Sorry, that's a total pain for Scuttlebutt to just randomly explode without warning, hopefully just moving/removing your view files will help? I'm sure you already know, but I'd recommend that you make a backup of ~/.ssb/secret and ~/.ssb/gossip.json before running rm anywhere near your SSB folder. It wouldn't hurt to make a backup of ~/.ssb/flume/log.offset either, but it's not quite as important as the first two.
My secure external HD drive "Pictures" backup was in desperate need for a run; since I keep the drive in a secure location at all times, except for when the backup runs and life reasons, it had been a couple of months since the last process. Trusting on my online backup storage too much perhaps?
Didn’t know a Yubikey could do that. Thanks for the tip.
Make sure to make a backup however!
Almost locked me out of my own PC because of a forgotten pin code on my Yubikey Nano. Note to self: make a backup of the pin code next time and perhaps not use it for my critical systems, especially since I'm already using other authentication mechanisms. Btw, locked myself out of my Kraken account too in the same way. Didn't make a "master password" there and now I can't access it. Not that I was using it for anything...
To do for this site: fix the print stylesheet so it will be easier to make a (printed) backup of the site in PDF format
Finished transferring all apps and data from the iPhone 7 to the XR. Went pretty smoothly and without issues. Having a backup on my work Mac at hand helped. But wow, is this XR heavy compared to the iPhone 7! The Seven feels super light weight compared to it.
@backblaze Time for a data center in Europe too as another backup location? I hear Amsterdam and Frankfurt are nice. Switzerland is pretty neat too.
