Hey Apple, it's 2023 - about time to start supporting the content indexation of markdown files in Spotlight out of the box, don't you think?
Really annoyed that the Apple MacBook does not have a USB Type A port anymore as now I cannot even connect the Iphone to it as I forgot the adapter in my other bag. This is a €2000 plus device that cannot connect to a €700 device just because of a stupid dongle.
The problem with Obsidian on desktop is that it is an Electron based application and that it therefor comes with the usual Electron related problems and bugs. For example - due to GPU acceleration issues in Electron, Obsidian is starting with an unusable black screen on Fedora VM running on Apple M1. The most frustrating part: it worked for a while, until it didn't. There doesn't seem to be real attention to this issue from Obsidian's side. So good thing that machine is not my main PC.
No, Apple Did Not Crowdfund :focus-visible in Safari https://
Apple's Mac update process seems far behind Microsoft's Windows 10 one in terms of not getting in the user's way.
> It does not matter that Apple will then check it and forward it to NCMEC. 18 U.S.C. § 2258A is specific: the data can only be sent to NCMEC. (With 2258A, it is illegal for a service provider to turn over CP photos to the police or the FBI; you can only send it to NCMEC. Then NCMEC will contact the police or FBI.) What Apple has detailed is the intentional distribution (to Apple), collection (at Apple), and access (viewing at Apple) of material that they strongly have reason to believe is CSAM. As it was explained to me by my attorney, that is a felony.
Regardless all of the open source operating systems, I would say I believe that Microsoft's "Windows 10" today is actually a more stable and robust operating system than Apple's Mac OSX. #personalopinion
@frankmeeuwsen De grootste uitdaging zal waarschijnlijk wel uit de Apple silo weg geraken. Icloud is zo met alles op Mac en IPhone verbonden.
So this happened: the USB dongle which allows me to connect HDMI to the Mac overheated and the OS is saying it is malfunctioning. I literally cannot hold the thing in my hands. You can cook an egg on it, perhaps even sear a juicy steak. Which engineer at Apple thought it was a great idea to sacrifice connectivity for thinness should be made aware of user's real pains and issues.
Really dislike how Apple expects users to command-c and command-v while the rest of the World does ctrl-c and ctrl-v.
The perpetual internal battle for many operators is whether they should include their content on platforms. Facebook News Tab, Instant Articles, Apple News and the list goes on. In one corner, the traffic hungry operator.
The latest Bullet Journal IOS companion app (version 2.0) improvements are impressive.
It now offers a great way of digitally backing up your paper notebooks.
Totally worth the $4.99 bucks! (I'm not getting anything out of this, I'm just a fan)

@codinghorror WebKit was never a favorite of mine due to slow development and Apple obviously having a bigger incentive pushing native apps. On the other hand, it has never been a better time to start or keep supporting the Mozilla foundation.
This is pure retro-computing gold. Re-watched the episode and the interview with Pete Perkins, the Apple Cloner perplexed me. This article tries to give some more history on him: https://
