Digging up some Beakerbrowser hyperdrives from a couple of years ago. Cool to see some are still there.

Mauve - Comparing Peer to Peer Protocols

This post will compare several peer to peer protocols by looking at how they work and the tradeoffs that one should consider when choosing one of them. We will specifically be looking at BitTorrent, IPFS, Secure Scuttlebutt (SSB) and Hypercore.

If you don't have Agregore or Beakerbrowser yet, you can read the same post on HTTP here https://blog.mauve.moe/posts/protocol-comparisons

Or if you're using IPFS you can find the current version of this page here: https://bafybeie2dbhtyytxvmkrzzwk7jvcyideqklsszsq2gta6jvc64mnlxst2u.ipfs.dweb.link/?filename=protoco...https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmYiAzdb4q5QnvahGPeDuiCHjGMC5vrrdbH8M7y57D8rs6?filename=protocol-comparisonshttps://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmYiAzdb4q5QnvahGPeDuiCHjGMC5vrrdbH8M7y57D8rs6?filename=protocol-comparisonshttps://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmYiAzdb4q5QnvahGPeDuiCHjGMC5vrrdbH8M7y57D8rs6?filename=protocol-comparisons

Seems like Windows 10 "App & Browser control" just made it impossible for me to run on my PC running version 2004 (OS Build 19041.610). Or could also be "Controlled Folder Access" that is blocking. Windows 10 is getting really close to becoming a completely locked-down - yet safe for everyone - to use operating system. But not super friendly for hackers or tinkerers like myself.

Impatiently waiting for @Beakerbrowser to get out of beta status to make it my main platform to interact with the Internet.

Imagining the possibilities if @wesbos would join us in the _real_ HyperSpace through @beakerbrowser!

I'm enjoying Beakerbrowser. It's the perfect combination of a browser, a platform and an editor. The only thing missing is mobile access to the Hyper:// content, of course including the Beaker API.

Since https://banglejs.com/apps/ runs in Beakerbrowser, I am thinking what to build that links up Hyperdrives with my Bangle.Js watch which can be controlled over Web Bluetooth See: https://www.espruino.com/Bangle.js#tutorials

We can use web applications in @Beakerbrowser for our own usage safely without having to enter _once_ a password or user-name. Just select the hyperdrive profile you want to use from a dialog and you're good to go.

Being able to "View source" in @BeakerBrowser 's Blahbity microblog app and other user's applications has introduced me to inspiring new code. Which is possible because we code in plain vanilla modern JS and don't use any complex build processes.

Love it how I can open Secure Scuttlebutt 's Oasis in Beakerbrowser as a web site and combine two peer-to-peer technologies together.

Wishing all browsers came with an "Edit Source" context-menu option, like @beakerbrowser has.

Since Microsoft adopted the chrome engine for Edge, my three main browsers are now: Firefox, Edge and Beakerbrowser. In other words: _Adios Google_

Joined the @BeakerBrowser profile with my own: <hyper://86fcdeb5ebb4a720f4e5b66fbab67a8051ddf09659cd2622cdeb0de8c4d41267/>

You will need Beakerbrowser to open that link.
