So thanks to an HP Bios Update Loop fail I lost two hours of my nighttime sleep today. Worst thing is that I spent some time creating an BIOS Recovery USB key, but then the only thing I had to do was to do a cold-reboot...
In busy places, like a big train station, I am always awed by the realization on just how many people there are in this World, all different, yet all alike.
Managed to rotate all our door handles 90 degrees to outwit our very clever maincoon cat who had taught himself how to open doors (even pulling); not something that we wanted him to be so skillful in (to avoid surprise cat visits to the bedroom and bathroom...); we wished he would get better at covering up his number 2's instead.

Cleaned up our arts and crafts (and office stuff) cabinet last night, it is still a mess, but now less of a problem.
Realizing I am getting more and more news and updates through #Mastodon than ever before. It's working!
Pretty sure that "AM" by Arctic Monkeys is one of my most favorite albums ever. Lost count of how many times I played the songs on repeat. #stuckonrepeat
A couple of days with #Fedora as my main OS and it's been going well. No big issues so far. Had to look up a couple of things and installed the Gnome Tweak application pretty fast to make the UI more "familiar" to me. But so far so good! It helps though that many things I do I can do from within the browser.
Hello from #Fedora OS installed on an somewhat aging HP EliteDesk PC system!
I salute everyone who managed to make the final move from Microsoft's Windows to a Linux distribution and never looked back. I would like to, but I feel very much siloed in. Every six months or so I give it another try, but there is always that still pulls me back into the corporate OS World. Here goes another try.
Wishing I had interest in watching Cowbow Bebop in 1998, when I was only 18;
Some jerks are firing off fireworks somewhere near Düsseldorf and it is freakin' me out how the sound of these explosions are terrifying to hear in a part of Europe not too far from here. #banfireworks
Yesterday I burned a bunch of MP3s on a 700 MB CD-R because our new leasing car still has a Sony CD slide-in slot - just for the heck of not having to take out the phone and open an app. Slot-in, press play.
It is finally happening! In our family, we seem to have about the same amount of USB TYPE-C devices as micro USB ones, with a small number of Iphone lightning connector still to go...
Ah, those wee hours in the morning where you can just have a coffee and chill and read about the recent developments in the world.... This is fine. Well, that was nice. Now excuse me, for I quickly need to start the daily rat race rush again. BBL
They should have bought y.com to redirect to Twitter.
Kicks Condor where are you? You are being missed. https://
Last post was a year ago...
And the "Twitter profile linking is my online identity" is even worse for authors, for example https://
But to be fair, this site is from the times when being on Twitter was still considered cool and a public good.
Looking around on web dev articles and seeing a lot of authors still being referenced with their Twitter handles - guess what happens when people - who don't have Twitter accounts - click on those links? They're forcefully taken to "you can only see this person's profile if you create an account with us". Why don't web devs all use their own domains instead?
First thing I did after upgrading to Android 13 on my Fairphone 3 was to turn off UI animations. I really do not need my phone's UI to dance all the time.
I was just thinking about this, or rather, about what I used to listen to in the car, and how. It’s been mostly classical radio these last few years, but my previous car had an SD card slot, and I’d always have about a dozen albums in there. (My current car has a USB slot, but I just … stopped using it a couple years ago?) I don’t care for anything that involves a phone.
Stuff I remember listening to (other than, say, late-’90s skate punk) quite a bit: Robyn, Katy Perry, Hatebreed, Bright Eyes.
