Cool initiative for a better Düsseldorf
Since we became parents we have been faced the challenge of finding fun things to do with our kid. So Erica has been collecting a rather big list of places to see and things to do in and around Düsseldorf. We wanted to share with friends, but the list is probably useful for anyone with children; so here we go.
The page will probably update from time to time.
Appreciating that the Signa immo investment company is allowing people from Düsseldorf to have a "say" it what could happen to the old Kaufhof location in the Düsseldorfer city center; but it's apparently hard to come up with any really great ideas for the location.
We think there is simply not enough to do in the city center, especially not for families with children. So we would really appreciate indoor playground or arcade, kid friendly restaurant and perhaps an educational center, like science museum, with an imax theater. Giving tourists something to do too, next to the overestimated "shopping" and drinking "experience" in the Altstadt. And it would be good for the unemployment in the center too as it would create some job opportunities for a number of people and especially students. Of course, a lot of effort would need be it be done in making the place attractive to investors first.
Yesterday, I had the terrible experience of seeing an animal, I think it was a marter, on the highway entrance, who looked like it was just hit by a car in front of me. There was no way for me to stop safely to check the animal because of the busy traffic and the lack of an emergency lane. I feel so bad that I couldn't help. So in memory and respect for the loss of life, I donated an amount to the Tiernotruf Hilfe in Düsseldorf with the hope that they can prevent the same aweful faith of happening to another animal.
