Would be cool if webmentions could tell if it's under moderation and queued up for review.

Did the same thing, using my own code, to render webmentions on my home page website since it doesn't do any server-side rendering - it's pure HTML with SSI (Apache2) server-side includes.

That is some sound advice! The coolest new technologies I learned about are web sign-in, webmentions and microsub & micropub. It's really cool how I can use - essentially - my own domain name, a server and any editor or reader client to passively and actively participate online 🌐

I totally agree. Just thinking out in the open here. How can we make the #indieweb go mainstream though? How can we give the publishing tools the same appeal and adoption rate as Snapchat or even Twitter, especially so less techy people can simply join us? What would happen if FB and Twitter start supporting webmentions?
Interesting experiment Chris. Too bad that the spam-bots found this site so fast. Especially for that reason I'm keeping the public comments on my own instance closed. What are you using for keeping webmentions to your site spam-free?
